In the lodges, on the large organ and emporas, on the altar and pulpit … most parts of the church are decorated with angels – an attribute that is very pleasing for a Baroque environment.
The angels run rampant everywhere, starting from the first floor and finishing with their rather quantitative accumulation on the ceiling, says Ryszard Wójtowicz, the conservator. He also emphasises that the Church of Peace is literally an angelic zone.
It is a very busy cluster: they keep inscriptions, lug the harps and clavichords, wave with their trumpets and trombones, carry the Gospel and accompany John the Baptist.
“They just look after their possession [the church]”, the conservator joked.
Apart from the renovation of the Angels, in recent months we have managed to renew many parts of the organ facade.
