She was only 31 when she died. Three years later her loving husband funded abeautiful epitaph hung in the Church of Peace in her memory.

Barbara von Zedlitz neé Retschin, born in 1640, came from a prominent knightly family. She smiles in her portrait, clad in an embroidered red and brown dress with ties on the sleeves.

This epitaph has always been very dear to me. I like watching it during mass. It hangs near the bench where I always sit – says Dr. Annemarie Franke. A historian and member of the Church of Peace parish, Dr. Annemarie Franke has donated a part of her inheritance for the renovation of the epitaph.
