In July yet more work got underway at the cemetery at the Church of Peace.

Within a four month period, Wroclaw based company Restoart will carry out preventive maintenance on the graves that are adjacent to the western wall, the inner western wall as well as northern and eastern walls.

This latest work is part of the continuation of the renovation of the cemetery under the project “Lutheran enclave.” Over the last few months we have managed to renovate the wall surrounding Peace Square, as well as the monuments and 12 standalone tombstones.

The historic Protestant cemetery, which served the faithful from the foundation of the parish in the seventeenth century until the end of the nineteenth century, is today one of the only few remaining cemeteries preserved in Silesia.

The cemetery has been closed for over a hundred years due to decay caused by weather and it has also been blighted by a number of thefts.

Now however, beautifully designed, high-quality baroque and and rococo tombs made from marble, granite and sandstone have allowed the site to once again regain its beauty.
