“My grandfather, Johannes Schiller, an inhabitant of the Nowica village situated nearby Świdnica, put faith in me as the only one of his eight grandchildren by entrusting me with his book collection. I have been taking care of them since the mid-80s, so 30 years have passed already.”

It was with those very words that an inhabitant of Jaworzyna Śląska started his extraordinary letter, in which he decided to give us the private library he inherited from his grandfather.

This man, who asks for anonymity, acknowledged that the Church of Peace would be the most appropriate place to keep such a marvellous and intriguing book collection.

Among the 570 books that have just enriched our library are German and world classics, yearbooks, newspapers, school textbooks and a few old texts. All of the items will be catalogued and then added to the Lower Silesian Evangelical Institute, which is due to open soon.
