Works by John Dowland, Henry Purcell and Johann Sebastian Bach resounded on July 18th at the Church of Peace during a concert played by the Academy of Good Music. This innovative music school is founded by Maciej Bator.
A church organist and a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Maciej Bator also achieved honors at the State University of Music and the Performing Arts in Stuttgart.
The Academy was initiated two years ago at the Church of Peace and has been referring to the centuries-old tradition of studying music with an organist ever since. At the academy more than a dozen people are learning to play piano and violin as well as improvisation and singing. Classes are held in the church using its historical music instruments. During the concert in July, a few organists from the Academy were accompanied by fifty guitarists, each of whom participated in the Summer Guitar Workshop in Jedlina-Zdroj.
