The National Geographic Traveler Magazine has announced a list of 16 sites nominated for “The Seven New Wonders of Poland” accolade.

The Church of Peace in Świdnica has been placed on the list along with the Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec, the new Philharmonic Hall in Szczecin, the home of Frederic Chopin in Zelazowa Wola and the Radziwill Palace in Nieborów among other beautiful places.

“This is the biggest wooden church in Europe! It belongs to Świdnica’s parish of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland. Its interior conceals the altar from the year 1752 as well as the baroque pulpit decorated with biblical scenes and allegories of Faith, Hope and Love. During your visit you must look above your head to see the ceilings, which are decorated with paintings showing scenes from the Revelation of Saint John. A miracle! “- exclaimed the authors of the nomination.

The competition runs until 22 September 2015.
