Baroque, wood and Lower Silesia – all these three unusual things are linked. Two churches and one paper mill are now also joined by a joint exhibition, which showcases photographs taken by Barbara Górniak under the title “Peace Churches in Lower Silesia”.  Barbara’s unique works can be seen in the Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki-Zdrój.

It would be very difficult indeed to find a better place for this exhibition. The churches – one from Jawor and Świdnica, as well as the paper mill from Duszniki, were built in the 17th century and are the landmarks of the region.

The exhibition has been on display since 2013 and was inaugurated to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the partnership between Lower Saxony and Lower Silesia. The exhibition, which had its premiere in Hanover, has also been on display in Hamburg, Brussels, Linz and Wroclaw. Until the 21st of June we can also see the exhibition at the Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki.

The Museum, like the Church of Peace in Swidnica, is the beneficiary of the programme “Maintenance and revitalization of cultural heritage”. In addition, the project titled: “Historic drying room building renovation and conversion for cultural purposes as well as fire protection for the Papermaking Museum complex in Duszniki-Zdrój together with a conservation and digitalisation of collections” received funding under the EEA Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism for the period through 2009-2014.
