On the 7th of March 2015, the Pastor of the Church of Peace was inaugurated as the Bishop of the Wrocław diocese of the Lutheran Church.You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

These were the words that the new bishop recited during the sermon. These words – from the Acts of the Apostles – are the main theme of his vocation during his bishop’s cadency.

During the three-hour ceremony in the Church of Peace, the new bishop was consecrated by Rt. Rev. Jerzy Samiec, the current presiding bishop of the Lutheran Church in Poland. Bishop Ragnar Persenius from Uppsala, and bishop Ryszard Bogusz (who had been the bishop of the diocese of Wroclaw for the past 20 years – a period of two terms) also took part in the ceremony.

Among the many guests were clergymen, politicians and diplomats from Polish, German Swedish and Czech institutions, among others; Staffan Herrström- Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden in Poland, Cardinal Henryk Gulbinowicz, Ewa Mańkowska – the Deputy Voivode of Lower Silesia, Ph.D, Minister Stanisław Huskowski from the Ministry of Administration and Digitization, Mr Marek Michalak – Ombudsman for Children, Mrs Jolanta Krupowicz – Managing Director of Lower Silesian Governor’s Office. The Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland is the largest Protestant church in Poland.

The Wroclaw diocese stretches from Karpacz to the parishes in Szczecin and Trzebiatow. It is served by 19 clergymen and one clergywoman. Its new head is 57 years old. Since 1992 he has been a pastor in Swidnica and he has also been president of the Synod of the Church.Thanks to his efforts, the Church of Peace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
