How can one store valuable prints, select the appropriate temperature, humidity and lighting for the storage of archives? How can the development of mold be prevented in books, acid-free paper and packaging for archival materials?
These vital questions were tackled by the participants of the conference “Preserving Historic Wood and Paper – a Polish-Norwegian Interdisciplinary Discussion” (held on 9-11 February 2015).
On the first day of the open lectures we invited all comers: the staff from the Museum of Old Commerce in Świdnica appeared alongside workers from the Public Library and Książ Castle, as did numerous private book collectors. The next day, together with our Norwegian Project partners from the council of the Vest-Agder region, we closely looked through our collections of books, which (during the general overhaul of the parsonage) have been meticulously preserved in the Town Hall. We also debated about the best possible place for the reading room, library, digitisation facility and storage of the future Lower Silesian Evangelical Institute.
