Wrocław director and cinematographer Patryk Kizny has filmed another movie about the decaying post-evangelical church in Żeliszów, near Bolesławiec. This is one of many Protestant churches in Lower Silesia that has been torn down since the region was vacated by German Protestants.

The eighteenth-century building is attributed to Carl Langhans, the author of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. This incredibly atmospheric edifice, shaped in ellipsoid form, has inspired the author of the movie “Rebirth”, which was shot using innovative methods based on technology such as laser scanning.

The opening night of the movie will take place on the 11th of December 2014 at 6 p.m. in the Audiovisual Technology Center in Wrocław. The movie director hopes that following the release of the film, Żeliszów’s case will be highlighted around the world, making it easier to raise funds for the church’s renovation.

Steps towards the improvement of the building’s condition have already been taken by “ Twoje Dziedzictwo” (“Your Heritage”), a foundation which raises money for the revitalization of monuments.
