Our project is the first and only comprehensive conservation programme in the 350-year history of the Church of Peace.
At the press conference marking the opening of the project on November 13th, the media met with Bishop Ryszard Bogusz, the head of the Wrocław diocese of the Lutheran Church. Representatives of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, local authorities, residents, conservators-restorers, historians and art historians also participated. Our two Norwegian project partners attended too – Terje Damman, Mayor of Vest-Agder county council, was present alongside his work colleagues, as was Robert Svarva, Mayor of Levanger.
The conference was open to anyone interested in either the restoration project of our church, or Polish-Norwegian cooperation, which in upcoming months will be developed under the watchword “Preserving Historic Wood and Paper – a Polish-Norwegian Interdisciplinary Discussion”.
This part of our project will include joint workshops and seminars, both in Poland and Norway. These workshops and seminars will be dedicated to wood, paper and leather conservators, as well as managers of historic wooden buildings, libraries and archives.
