Rev. Waldemar Pytel, the pastor of the Church of Peace in Swidnica, has become the bishop of Wrocław’s Lutheran Church diocese. He was elected by the Diocesan Synod, which was in session from the 24 to the 25 of October in Międzyzdroje.
The meeting was lead by the current presiding bishop of the church – Rt. Rev. Jerzy Samiec. 40 out of the 45 members present cast their vote for Waldemar Pytel. The elected bishop will take office in the first quarter of next year on a 10-year term. His diocese covers Lower Silesia, Lubusz and part of the West Pomeranian voivodeship, and amounts to four thousand faithful. “I will continue with the policy of the last bishop – Rt.Rev. Ryszard Bogusz”, says Rev. Waldemar Pytel.
