We cordially invite you to the upcoming concerts in the Church of Peace, a truly exceptional venue thanks to its shape and fine acoustics fostered by its wooden interior. The history hidden behind the music is also most noteworthy: the cantor of the church, Christoph Gottlob Wecker, was Bach’s pupil.
The main attraction of this year’s 15th anniversary of the festival will be two operas: “Dido and Aeneas” by Purcell, and “Don Giovanni” by Mozart. There will also be a performance from a well-known British conductor – Andrew Parrott.
Not only do the personalities and repertoire make the International Bach Festival a unique event, but the instruments too. The renovation of the large organs inside the Church of Peace has been undertaken as a part of the project named “Reinstating the splendour of a Lutheran enclave”. This work will make subsequent editions of this great event enriched by a rejuvenated sound.
